Are your trims guaranteed? Our trims are guaranteed to be free of defects only. Due to the complex nature of fabrics and the variety of cleaning, construction, and storage conditions, we cannot guarantee how a trim will hold up under sewing, gluing, dry cleaning, machine washing, bleaching, damp conditions, shrinking, fading, etc. If you have concerns, it is best to order a yard and do your own testing to make sure it will perform to your specific needs.
Where are your trims made? Virtually all of our metallic gimps and galloons are made in Europe by top manufacturers. Our jacquard trims (colorful, cloth-like ribbony items) are made by quality Asian manufacturers.
Are your metallic items made with real metal? Most trims do not include real metal. Many makers have stopped making trims with real metal because demand is limited.
Almost all of our real metal trims have been discontinued by the manufacturer, alas! We still have some real-metallic in stock—these have an item number that starts with an M (e.g. M731.2). They are usually a mix of metallic and non-metallic threads.
All of our metallic gimps and galloons come from quality European makers who specialize in metallic trims, and the quality is top notch—you will notice a huge difference between the metallic trims you get in a big-box fabric store and the European trims we sell.
Pricing: We reserve the right to change wholesale or retail prices without notice.
Do you give additional discounts? We currently don't offer any additional discounts (except for advertised sales or special offers). Thank you for your understanding.
What is your minimum order per item? Our minimum order is 1 yard for retail, and 5 yards for wholesale—although certain items, such as miniature cords, are sold by the spool (109 yards/100 meters) only.
What is "Tudor Gold"? Tudor Gold is a beautiful, warm bright-gold tone (the manufacturer calls it red-gold), preferred by some for historical costuming for its exquisite patina.
How can I be sure of the color? Unfortunately, the color of trims online is sometimes skewed by the settings on your monitor and photography, so if you need to match something, it's best to get a sample (see in the next question). If you have special requirements, please contact us so we can help you with your order.
Do you provide samples? Yes, we provide two-inch samples of trims as needed, up to a maximum of five initial trims per customer. Each additional sample is charged $5.00 per sample plus postage. We do not sell sample books of the entire collection.
How quickly are items shipped? We usually ship within 1-3 days via the U.S. Postal Service - Priority Mail. We do not ship via Fedex or UPS except in rare circumstances.
Shipping prices: Please note that our shipping prices include postage, packing, handling, and other fees.
What forms of payment do you accept? We accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express, and PayPal.
Why does my trim have a splice or cut? On occasion, you may receive a trim with a manufacturer's splice or cut; your order will include extra length (usually about 3-5") to accommodate the cut/splice. If the current inventory is cut into various lengths, we will confirm with you that the lengths will work for your project.
What is your return policy? We allow trims to be returned for a full refund if notified within 5 business days from date of receipt. Trims must be in their original condition (clean and uncut and without any odors such as smoke, perfume, etc.). Trims returned clean and uncut in the 5 business days period after receipt may be exchanged for credit. Trims cannot be returned after 5 business days from date of receipt. Refunds are processed after we receive the returned items.
You must contact us first to get approval for a return. Trims that have been cut or are otherwise damaged, including smoke or perfume, cannot be returned. Special-order and clearance items cannot be returned unless there is a manufacturer's defect. Refunds are processed after we receive the returned items.
How do I become a wholesale buyer? Please send a message using our "Contact Us" form and include your business name, address, web address, phone number, and Federal tax ID number and a Resale Certificate (copies of documents will be required). We will review and contact you to let you know if your account is approved.
What is the wholesale discount? Wholesale discounts vary from 10-50% (the average is about 20-30%). We don't have an across-the-board discount due to the fluctuating prices and exchange rates from Europe and other factors. Some clearance items carry the same price for both wholesale and retail.
Is it possible to come to your location to see the trims in person? We do not have a bricks-and-mortar store, so it is not possible to view the collection in person.
How do you pronounce "passementerie"? "Passementerie" is the French word for textile trimmings, tassels, and related items. It's pronounced something like "pahss-mahn-TREE"—but you can just say Palladia!
